World Champions!

On November first, the Rangers faced off with the Diamondbacks in the last game in Chase Field. The starting matchup was Zac Gallen vs. Nathan Eovaldi.

In the first five innings of the game, Zac Gallen was throwing a perfect game except for one measely walk he gave up to Nathaniel Lowe. It was a different story for Nathan Eovaldi, who allowed a runner in scoring position in every one of these innings and walking five batters. However, the score remained deadlocked at 0-0.

Gallen threw a perfect sixth, and so did Nathan Eovaldi. But when Gallen returned to throw the seventh, things turned for Arizona fans. Right away Gallen gave up three hits and a run. He proceeded to get the next out before being pulled, and Texas was held to one.

Chapman came into the game for Texas and threw 2/3 of an inning before ceding to Josh Sborz, who finished the inning and threw a scoreless eighth.

The game was still a nailbiter at 1-0 when a desperate Arizona brought in their closer, Paul Sewald, who quickly gave up two singles. Then came Jonah Heim, who had been hitting 1-16 this world series. He singled to center field, driving in Josh Jung, and then an error by Alek Thomas in center allowed Nathaniel Lowe to score and Heim to get to third. Then Sewalkd got a K and a groundout before facing Marcus Semien. Semien proceeded to blow the game open with a two-run homer, making the score 5-0.

Josh Sborz came back in the bottom of the ninth with a comfortable five run lead. The first batter up was Geraldo Perdomo, who was sent back to the dugout swiftly by a strikeout looking. Corbin Carroll then popped up to Jonah Heim, and Ketel Marte struck out looking on five pitches to send the snakes home for the cold hard winter. The Rangers effectively took themselves off the list of now five teams to never win a world series. Nathan Eovaldi took the win for the Rangers, and Josh Sborz got his first-ever postseason save.

And so, my initial prediction was correct. And though I argued against them, my hope and my brain never failed me, and I knew deep down who was going to do it. And the Rangers won 13 games this postseason, and went 12-0 while the guest team. And you know something else interesting?

Rays
Orioles
Astros
Diamondbacks

It's an acronym. If you list every postseason team in order that they defeated, it spells out ROAD.

Corey Seager won the World Series MVP with his 3 homers, 6 RBIs and runs, and .762 slugging.

Evan Carter set a postseason record by hitting 9 doubles this postseason, and the Rangers set a record by going 12-0 on the road in the post.

I was at the watch party at Globe Life Field, and boy was it wild. The crowd was amazing, and the section I was in, 104, started all the waves and the chants and everything. It was a great crowd. And I too had my share of fun. I created a sign that I showed off to multiple random strangers and got fist-pumps, high fives, or cheers out of. It read:

Snakes
Alive

Please tell me in the comments if you don't understand this or want me to explain it in another post.

And so it seems that whenever a team does a good thing, they win it all. That's the way it's been recently, with the Braves winning in 2021, and the Rangers now. Congratulations Rangers. You deserve it.

  1. His name is NATE Lowe!

It always stinks to strike out looking to end the World Series.

    Go Rangers!
